Littering and Vandalism

Littering means throwing rubbish on place that is not own by you. Vandalism means destroying thing that does not belong to you. Children litter because they think it is convenient to do so.Children vandalise because they think it is fun to do so.I feel angry when the place is littered or vandalised.I seen places that are littered or vandalise in our school toilet.we can stop littering and vandalism in our school by punishing those who do so.We should fine those who litter or vandalise in puplic places.

I like him because he is the best and fastest racer. I like the F1 race because it is very exciting. Yes, I watched the F1 race, both the practice and real races on the television. It is very fun and challenging to watch the F1 race.

Recycling

It necessary to recycle things to save the earth and stop pollution. Recycling means using something twice. Things can be recycled by passing it on to someone who need them. I practised recycling by giving away old newspapers and passing down my old clothes and textbooks to my younger brother. I think the school is not doing enough for recyling because most of the students are not practising recycling. The school can help by making it compulsory for the students to practise recycling. I will encourage my friends and classmates to practise recycling.

PE Attire

The principal has announced that all pupils can wear PE attire the whole day when they have their PE lessons.I feel happy about the rule. The reasons for the school to allow pupils to wear PE attire the whole day is so that we can spend more time eating than changing. The disadvantages of wearing PE attire the whole day is smelling bad.

Personal Response 5 : Earthquakes part 2

How often do they happen?

Did you know there are over a million earthquakes each year in all parts of the world?
But we don't notice most of them because they are so small.
Britain doesn't have a history of devastating earthquakes, but there are 200 to 250 on average a year, and about 30 of those can be felt.

Why is it dangerous after a quake?

Earthquakes are often followed by aftershocks.
These are smaller quakes which bring more damage to already weakened buildings and roads.
Land, especially hills, can also be damaged by earthquakes and can result devastating landslides and mudslides.
After the El Salvador earthquake in 2001, a landslide hit the small town of Las Colinas.
It buried 500 houses and killed 315 people. Many more were never found.

Personal Response 5 : Earthquakes part 1

Why do Earthquakes happen?

Although the ground we walk on seems solid, the earth is actually made up of huge pieces of flat rock called tectonic plates.
These move very slowly, and where they meet is called a fault.
When the plates rub together, the movement forces waves of energy to come to the earth's surface. This causes tremors and shakes - and this is what causes earthquakes.

Are they dangerous?

Earthquakes can be very dangerous, if you are in the wrong place. They can make buildings fall down and set off landslides, as well as having many other deadly effects.
An earthquake which occurs on the seafloor can push water upwards and create massive waves called tsunamis.
These waves can reach speeds of up to 500 kilometres per hour and cause massive devastation to anything in their path.
Earthquakes are measured on the Richter Scale.
The higher the number on the scale, the more powerful the quake. The more powerful a quake is, the more damage it can cause.
Earthquakes have killed hundreds of thousands of people even though scientists are able to make buildings much safer than in the past.
Unfortunately many quakes happen in parts of the world where people can't afford to spend lots of money on safety measures.

Reflection 5 : My Mother

I gave my mother a stalk of flower and a happy mother day card.My relationship with my mother is very good. my mother helped me through the years by teaching me my studies.I think mothers are important in children's lives.

Personal Response 4 : Child Safety Belt in School Bus

I take the school bus to school. My school bus number is bus 1.I think the children behave well in the school bus.I agree with Ms Karen Koh that safety belts should be installed in school buses. It is better to be safe than sorry. I do not agree with Mr Leow Beng Kiong's view that installing seat belts not only costly but also unnecessary as the children are on the bus for only about 15 minutes.Children, bus attendants and school do to make sure that children are safe when travelling in school bus and school do to make sure that children are safe when travelling in school bus.Children sould not run around the bus and put on seat belt.Bus attendants sould check on the children on the bus.School sould install seat belts on their school buses.

Reflection 4 : Food Sold In Our Canteen

I eat in the school canteen. My favourite stall is stall 8.I like their mee rubus most. Some of the food and drinks sold in canteen are healthy, some are not.The gas drinks in the drinks stall are not healthy. The fruits in the drinks stall are healthy. I think the food and drinks sold in the canteen are clean.I suggest vegetable to be included in rice.I think we can make our canteen a more conducive place for pupils and teachers by not throw rubbish on the floor and returning food plates to the food stall that we brought the food from.

Personal Response 3 : Hand, Foot and Mouth Disease

HFMD is Hand, Foot and Mouth Disease. I tell whether my friend has HFMD if I see throat and tonsils having small ulcers while the hands, feet, and diaper area are affected by a rash with characteristic vesicles (very small blisters) on my friend. It is not true that HFMD occur only among true that HFMD occur only among children below five? .The news on tv tells us that adult and children had been infected with hfmd.I not not know of anyone who has contracted this disease.Someone with HFMD can help to prevent the spread of the disease by staying at home till he/she recovered from HFMD.

Reflection 3: Friendship

I think friendship is making friends with somebody. I think it is important to have friends, because, if we have some problems we can tell them. I think it is important for Singaporeans to make friends with people from other countries. I enjoy the activities organised for our school international friendship day. I suggest to include a show put up by pupils from other countries making friends with pupils from other countries.

Personal Response 2 : Courtesy

Courtesy means respect and politeness towards somebody. I like Kong Rong Rang Li's Tale from China most because Rong Rang Li could choose the big pear, he chose the smallest one. I think we should be courteous to everybody and show our respect to our teachers.

I think my classmates in the class are courteous.

We should say good morning to our parents everyday to show our courtesy. We can say 'hi' to our friends everytime we see them.

My dream is to become a cop. I think my dream is very important to me because I can help Singapore to make sure everyone is safe. I plan to study hard for my exams, tests and for police test to join them. I think that people should have dreams, so that they have a goal in their life and work toward it. But I have to grow up, compete my studies and serve National Service. I want to join air force for National Service. But I wear glasses, may be I will join navy.

Health Education

During the Health Education lesson, our teacher played with us a computer game to put all the medical things together for the first aid box. Some of the things were tricky and hard to find. At last, we managed to complete the game. It was very fun.

Total Defence Day

Total Defence Day is to remind us we must never fall into the hands of the foreign power and never surrender in war. During the Total Defence Day, we were shown the various acts of defence and a movie about how we were caught and treated by the Japanese during the war. We must always be prepared to fight for our country in the war.

My blogging experience

I am very excited to use the blog. I will like to write more. The blog is fun to use and allows us to share experience.

Personal Response: Racial Harmony

I think that the story is very interesting. We must not fight, regardless of race or religion. I think that Rajah's solution is good. Because if we were to be of one race only, we will not fight. Racial hormony is for people of different races to get together in hormony. However, my solution is to have one race, Singaporean. We will then do away with other races. Why do you think?

One of the war heroes, Lieutenant Adnan Bin Saidi of the Malay regiment who fought bravely against the Japanese forces in the war.The other one is Lim Bo Seng of force 136. But he and his friends was did not give them any information about force 136.One of his friends was Tan Chong Tee. I admired them for their bravery. My favourite heroes were Lieutenant Adnan Bin Saidi, Lim Bo Seng and Elizabeth Choy.
